3. Attributes
3.1 Each character is rated in the following attributes: Strength (STR),
Dexterity (DEX), Intelligence (INT), Wisdom (WIS), and Constitution (CON).
In general:-
   (a) STR measures weight allowance (both worn and carried) and
base damage-dealing capacity.
   (b) DEX adds to the probability of a successful melee attack,
and to defending against melee attacks. DEX also measures movement points
and the number of items you are permitted to carry.
   (c) INT measures mana allowance (for spells).
   (d) WIS grants resistance to magic.
   (e) CON measures certain other resistances and grants bonus hit
points.
3.2 Each class is also associated with a particular attribute, and gains a
bonus to that statistic at the expense of a penalty to another attribute.
This is referred to as the class heritage. A warrior's class heritage is
STR and hence, warriors gain a bonus to STR. This is at the expense of
INT. Thieves have DEX heritage at the expense of WIS. Mages have INT
heritage at the expense of STR. A cleric's heritage is WIS and clerics
have lower DEX.
3.3 It should be noted that the heritage can, in a sense, be overcome by
the training system, explained below.
